THE DAY BELONGED to Meagan Best as the Sagicor Life National Junior Squash Championships ended at Marine Courts on Sunday.
Not only that, it was the dismissive manner in which she beat her nemesis. Nobody could have predicted a straight sets triumph but that was the name of the game. Best took the top prize 11-7, 11-6, 11-6.
If that wasn’t good enough, Best also showed that she was in ripping form in the Under-15 final where she defeated Jada Smith-Padmore 11-2, 11-3, 11-3 without breaking a sweat.
There was an upset in the family duel between Benjamin Griffith and brother Shemane in the boys’ Under-19 final. Benjamin left the court with bragging rights 7-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-8. Shemane found some redemption in the Under-17 final as he coasted to victory over Joshua Seale in straight sets, stopping him at 11-5, 11-5, 11-5. In the open under-13 division, Darian Benn beat Alex Stewart 12-10, 11-9, 12-10. Stewart got some bragging rights though as he took the under-11 crown over 12-10, 11-13, 11-6, 11-7. One of the next big events on the card is the annual BCQS International Masters. (AT) – See more at: http://www.nationnews.com/nationnews/news/79250/megan-march-squash#sthash.zFzLskh8.dpuf
